Not Good Enough

I know that many of you out there have become concerned for the safety of yourself and your family. Gun sales have skyrocketed over the last 5 years. Folks it is simply not good enough to own a gun. Part of the problem is we as Americans want to be safe but are generally unwilling to work for it. Owning a gun comes with a greater responsibility. Safety comes first to mind when considering a firearm purchase. Hiding it from the kids is not a safe option. If you can get to it so can they. A safe is barely a viable option because once again if you can get into it so can they. Teach your children about the firearm. Show them the firearm. Answer all their questions. As they come of age teach them to operate the firearm and how to break it down and clean it. But is this enough? I say NO! If you own it you must be prepared to use it, and use it under duress. You are not going to have all the time in the world to bring your weapon into play and the attacker may be as well armed or better armed than you. I could site several incidents in recent news history where the attacker was well prepared and well armed against unarmed or under prepared victims. Once you lose your opportunity to act there are no mulligans or do overs. So learn how your firearm works, practice with it as frequently as possible, take classes in self defense with a firearm, and read about all the data available. I hope and pray that none of you ever have to use your firearm or come into that type of dangerous situation. But if you do I hope and pray you heed this little piece of advice and take responsibility for your safety and the safety of your family.

Foreign Aid

Alright folks here we go! Senator Rand Paul R-KY has put forth an amendment on the foreign aid package we send to Egypt. My question is why is it only for Egypt? Here is what we do about foreign aid, we stop it. We are creating a welfare nation here in our own country with 11 States touting welfare rolls that exceed the employed population. We are trying to create a welfare world. I don't want to buy these people off I simply don't want to see naked starving children as a result of their government's poor choices. We have a ton of used clothing and unused produce here in this country so send them that and be done with it. Don't send them new NIKE tennis shoes and porterhouse steaks. Let us stop this insanity across the board. Let us focus on our problems, our debt, our borders, and our decline. We have nothing to fear from people who cannot feed and clothe themselves so why bribe their corrupt officials? Perhaps we should cut the head off this problem instead of feeding it.

The "Big" Day

Well tomorrow it is back to the doctor. We will be discussing the "options" for treatment. I had hoped that a better option than what is facing me would become available but I don't get an easy button. As schedules panned out we have no one to watch the kids so I am flying solo. I will miss having my wife there to temper my nerves. I have to get my big boy pants on in the morning, suck it up, and deal with it. I am not afraid of the treatment or the side effects as they are temporary. I am however very nervous about the 100% iron clad cure option. I have a family that needs me and am not prepared to leave them in a lurch. Hell my youngest son would barely remember me if this goes badly. I feel like I am carrying a very heavy weight on my shoulders and am now being asked to run up a muddy hill. School didn't prepare me for this. My folks didn't prepare me for this. Only life has given any illumination as to what is to come. I don't blame school or my folks but wow this sort of stuff should come with a manual. I see the worry in the eyes of those who are closest to me. That hurts the most. Not being the rock, the tough guy, the pillar, or the anchor. I always thought I could puff up my chest and stick out my chin and take on the world. Well God has a funny way of dealing with that sort of arrogance. Thank you for the lesson Father, it was much needed. Well time to get some things done and move on to fixing this so we can carry on with our grand plans.

Face Value

I would like to thank every person who has ever lied, fudged, or fibbed. I can no longer take ANYTHING at face value. I know that forgiveness is a part of being human and being a good person but wow. having been raked over the coals so many times there are very few things I accept at face value. I realized this this morning as I was reading things and being totally dismissive of the face value of what was being said. It is real easy to become a tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist when everything you see or hear is a half truth. Then someone comes along and is actually genuine and BINGO I don't believe what they are saying. It is almost like the entire English language reverts to the least likely definition of each and every word. My head is going to explode soon I am sure of it. You turn on the television, LIES. You read the newspaper, LIES. A politician takes in a breath, LIES. Your kids get caught in a tight spot, LIES. Someone is the least bit uncomfortable with you, LIES.

Then someone comes along and is genuine and honest and I wonder why I can't believe what I am hearing or seeing. I wonder why people get so bent when they do the right thing and still get screwed over? Wow perhaps the simple truth is the truth and we all need a hell of a lot more of it. There has never been a lie told that is ultimately easier than the truth. I am trying to raise three boys with this in mind. It is very hard when they are lied to constantly. It makes me want to apologize to everyone who is honest and sincere because I am almost incapable of believing you. Just before I started writing this I picked apart a friends blog because I was seeing ulterior motives where there were none. For that I feel like shit. But it makes me wonder how many people do the same to me? How do we keep from clubbing each other like baby seals every time we speak?

Is there a place that exists where face value is face value? I mean even with religion, politics, and sexual relationships aside can the average person be trusted any more? You go to buy something that is promoted as this product for this price, LIES. You end up paying a hell of a lot more for the idea they placed in your head and that is what advertising has become. It is a lie to achieve the up sell. Case in point have you bought a car or a house lately? How about appliances or electronics? One lie after another until you get your wallet out then we get to the truth. Just tell me what it costs to get what I want and we will start there. You are not going to wear me down because I can walk away. Lets talk cable and internet or cellular service. Ever hire a contractor? All a big pack of lies to get more money out of you.

In conclusion what is real anymore? What happened to genuine care and consideration for others? I miss that sense of community and sharing. Be it good or bad people are ashamed of who they are and unwilling to play the hand of cards they are dealt. It may not be the winning hand but at least you are in the game!

N CONGRESS, July 4, 1776.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:
For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences
For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:
For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.
He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.
He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.

We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.

Lack of Rantage

For those of you who have been following The Rant I want to first thank you and second explain the drastic reduction of rantage here lately. I have been slowing my roll for 2 reasons. I have had some health related issues and second my rants are starting to run together. If conditions in this country continue down the same muddy rutted road my rants will distill into 2 words the first starting with F and the second starting with Y. Perhaps I will be as lazy as the rest of the country and just do a selfie of my magnificent longest digit and just post that. At this point folks I want to rant about EVERYTHING! Even the "nice" stories are contrived or outright lies. I am about to look into buying a cave and moving on in. I means seriously nothing seems to be realistic anymore. Even people local to me are living in a fantasy world and not seeing the reality of what is going on around them. I will open this up to suggestions as to worthy topics to "rant" about. I am willing to discuss anything at this point. I certainly hope this feeling of utter disdain passes.
